Brahms¡¯s Piano Concerto No. 1, played by piano virtuoso Andreas Haefliger, calls for vigor and technique on the part of the piano to confront the mighty orchestra. Gustav Holst¡¯s orchestral suite The Planets is a celebration of various rhythmic and timbral possibilities of the orchestra, with lyrical solo passages for horn, violin, and cello. In the final movement, Neptune, let your imagination run across the mystery and ethereality of the universe as the women¡¯s choruses, harp, and celesta vanish into the space.

Piano / Andreas Haefliger
- Graduated from the Juilliard School.
- Has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland, LA Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, London Symphony, and Rotterdam Philharmonic orchestras, as well as Orchestre de Paris.
- Frequently appears at the Lucerne and Salzburg Festivals, the BBC Proms, and the Wiener Festwochen.
- Recorded with Sony Classical, Decca, and Harmonia Mundi, winning critical acclaim.
