The charismatic Gil Shaham, who captured Korean audiences¡¯ hearts back in 2010 in a concert with Mariss Jansons, returns with the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Shaham has been praised as ¡°the outstanding American violinist of his generation¡± by the Time magazine. Expect to be carried away by his delicate, intelligent, and passionate performance. The second half of the concert is Mahler¡¯s sweeping Fifth Symphony. The funeral march by trumpet in the introduction is followed by an intense surge of anxiety and fear that was prevalent at the time, but such negative emotions transform into positive ones at the end of the work. In the fourth movement, Adagietto, experience musical beauty escalated by its brevity and an extreme contrast of moods as the KBS Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Yoel Levi delicately paint many layers of human emotions on a musical canvas.

<b style="font-size: 9pt;
